Dawn Hampton Fund

Friends of Dawn Hampton,

Since losing Dawn a few days ago, there has been a tremendous outpouring of feeling. Dawn Hampton has been one of the guiding lights of our Lindy Hop family, and we will all cherish her memory.

This fundraiser is a continuation of the one that George Gee started that has already raised $1,530! We have proposed a total goal of $10,000 to cover these expenses.

Any money that is left at the end of the process could be used for a special project that would honor Dawn’s wishes for the global swing dance community. In this case, a committee of people close to Dawn would be convened to decide how best to use any remaining funds.

There is a need for financing to cover Dawn’s final arrangements. Those closest to her, and Dawn herself, have requested a small funeral. There are many expenses to cover and the Frankie Manning Foundation has agreed to serve as a “conduit” for dispersing funds for this purpose—receiving donations and paying relevant bills.

The Dawn Hampton Fund

The Dawn Hampton Fund (DHF), administered by the Frankie Manning Foundation (FMF) is intended to cover:

  1. Expenses and fees pertaining to Dawn Hampton’s cremation, including related transport and urns.

  2. Final utility bills and rent including keeping the apartment in her name for long enough to review and relegate or dispose of contents. The DHF will cover any expenses incurred in this process

  3. Fees or legal expenses involved in the closure of her estate, if they should arise.

  4. Costs connected to a funeral/celebration event according to Dawn’s wishes. There has been talk of using St. Peters Church, known as the Jazz Church. Details TBD.

Thank you for your generous contributions to the Dawn Hampton Fund. If you have any questions, please contact the Frankie Manning Foundation: https://www.frankiemanningfoundation.org/contact/
